Sally Lindsay reveals why she won’t be going back to Coronation Street

Don't expect to see her pulling pints in The Rovers any time soon

Ex Corrie star Sally Lindsay as revealed that while she loved her time on the soap, she won’t be heading back to the cobbles any time soon.

After a recent spate of old faces have reprised their roles on Coronation Street, Sally has admitted that she won’t be following the likes of Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby, and returning as her Corrie alter ego Shelley Unwin.

The actress told Woman’s Own magazine: “Corrie haven’t asked me, because they probably know what the answer would be.

“Corrie was a brilliant place and I loved it, but I left so long ago, it seems like a different lifetime.”

But Sally was quick to add that while she won’t be stepping back into Shelley’s shoes, that doesn’t mean other people can’t return to the famous soap…

“There’s nothing wrong with going back – but I’m happy on this side of the fence.”

Sally became a firm fan favourite when she appeared on Corrie between 2001 and 2006 as Rovers landlady Shelley.

Some of her biggest storylines include her abusive relationship with builder Charlie Stubbs, and her bigamous marriage to Peter Barlow.

Since leaving Coronation Street, Sally has enjoyed a hugely successful TV career, starring in shows such as Ordinary Lies, Scott and Bailey, Mount Pleasant and Still Open All Hours.

Sally also went on to tell the magazine that she is still close friends with Suranne Jones, who played Corrie’s Karen McDonald…

“We meet up with our kids sometimes. It’s nice to get them together and not talk about work. We’re also always trying to cook up new TV ideas, but not on a family day!”
