Ruth makes cheeky joke about Eamonn’s appearance on This Morning

Poor Eamonn!

It’s usually Eamonn Holmes making cheeky jokes about his wife Ruth Langsford but during Friday’s This Morning, it was the other way around!

Ruth, 58, saw the perfect opportunity to tease her hubby during a chat about relationships with dating guru Matthew Hussie.

Matthew was giving a list of dos and don’ts for relationships.

He told the hosts: “Relationships end the way they began. What makes you have to break up in two years you could have seen in the first two days.”

A viewer called Wendy had written in to say she’s been dating a guy for five weeks but she doesn’t actually fancy him.

Matthew said: “People need to be honest with themselves whether someone is boring because they’re actually showing they like you, or whether they’re boring because they’re actually boring.”

Eamonn said to Ruth: “For you the biggest sin is being boring. You could date someone ugly…”

Ruth interrupted, joking: “Well…” as she playfully put her arm around her hubby.

Eamonn, who laughed off the quip, added: “But you couldn’t date someone boring.”

Later in the discussion viewers were treated to one of Eamonn’s chat up lines.

And it’s safe to say, Ruth wasn’t left falling at his feet…

When asked what he would say to someone if he was new to an area, Eamonn said: “I would say: I’m new in town, what’s good around here – besides you?”

Ruth screwed up her face as she said: “Oh no!”

Earlier in the conversation, Eamonn and Ruth gushed about their 22-year romance.

Eamonn said: “There are those who say the course of true love never runs smoothly but I would tend to disagree with that.”

Ruth added: “22 years running smoothly!”

The couple have been an item for over two decades and tied the knot in 2010.

Earlier this year, Loose Women panellist Ruth opened up about working alongside her husband as well as living together.

“We do get sick of each other sometimes and I’ll think, ‘Ugh, he’s really annoying me this morning and now I’ve got to go to work with him,'” she told The Sun.

“People know that when they see us on This Morning being a bit [frosty] with each other. But that’s the beauty of a real relationship.”

But despite their silly rows, Ruth was full of praise for her husband and said there was nobody she would rather co-present with.

She gushed: “He’s the most amazing broadcaster. He’s smart, he’s funny, he’s quick and he’s compassionate.”
