Popular Neighbours star Olympia Valance hints at quitting the soap

Heading to Hollywood?

| Updated:

Neighbours Olympia Valance, who plays Paige Smith on the Aussie soap, has hinted she could be making a move Stateside to pursue the Hollywood dream.

The actress, who has starred in Neighbours since 2014, has recently been signed by the same management agency as the Hemsworth brothers, Chris and Liam, in Los Angeles.

And after being compared to Margot Robbie, who played Donna Freedman on the soap from 2008 to 2011 before heading to the US and landing massive roles in films such as Wolf Of Wall Street and Suicide Squad, Olympia has admitted it’s flattering.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Olympia said: “It really excites me. As an Aussie, I’ve loved watching the country get behind Margot and cheering her on as she found incredible success overseas.

“As a young Australian actor myself, what she is achieving is everything I could hope for, and more.”

So does that mean she’s planning on following in Margot’s footsteps to Hollywood?

It’s not the first time Olympia, whose sister is former Neighbours star Holly Valance, has spoken about life beyond the soap.

She has previously revealed to The Sunday Telegraph’s TV Guide: “To go and throw it away for the unknown… it’s going to be really hard because I’ve loved the cast, I love the crew.

“If I do go, it will be one of the hardest decisions I’ll ever have to make.”

She went on to say: “Even if I decide not to sign on for another season, I want to come back and forth for cameos. It would never be the end of Paige.”

We guess that would be up to the writers and producers, though, but Paige is such a popular character, we’d be surprised if they did kill her off.

Her current storylines include having a baby with a priest, and most recently being caught up in a siege drama with Terese Willis.

Olympia is also an ambassador for lingerie brand Gossard.

When Holly left Neighbours, she embarked on a music career, finding success with singles such as Kiss Kiss. She was most recently seen on UK screens in Strictly Come Dancing.
