Piers Morgan pokes fun at Eamonn Holmes’ blunder on This Morning

He offered to give Eamonn a helping hand

Piers Morgan jokingly offered to step in and help Eamonn Holmes after his fellow presenter made a mistake on air during Monday’s This Morning.

Piers, 53, was on the daytime show to discuss his interview with President Donald Trump, conducted during Trump’s recent visit to the UK.

But as their chat came to an end, Eamonn mistakenly told viewers the show was heading to a commercial break.

Eamonn said: “And we’re going to have Martin Lewis right after this short break.”

As he and co-star Ruth Langsford stared at the camera for a second, Eamonn quickly realised they weren’t going to a break.

He said: “Oh! It’s not a break. Hold right there. I take that right back.”

Ruth quipped: “Oh how professional, Piers!”

As the pair began giggling, Piers quipped: “Do you want me to step in, Eamonn? This wouldn’t happen on Good Morning Britain!”

Ruth agreed: “This would never happen on Good Morning Britain.”

Eamonn added: “Never, never.”

Meanwhile, Martin – who was sitting alone at the other end of the studio – said: “I’m ready, I’m ready now!”

Eamonn and Ruth have just kicked off their six-week summer stint on the show as they fill in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby until September.

Last week, Holly and Phil announced they were off on their summer break.

Mum-of-three Holly said on Friday: “It’s our last show before Eammon and Ruth take over for the summer from Monday. Definitely in holiday mode now.”

The beloved duo then ended the programme by showing a montage of their best bits over the last year.

Holly gushed: “It’s been an amazing year, cheers!” while Phil added: “Yes, we are slipping away for a little while now… only for a bit of Prosecco.”

But it seems viewers are already missing the pair.

One person tweeted: “No Phil and Holly for 6 weeks, I’m heartbroken,” while another said: “Anyone else turn This Morning off when they realise it’s not Phil and Holly.”
