Piers Morgan makes mistake on Good Morning Britain and Susanna Reid was thrilled

He got a taste of his own medicine in embarrassing moment!

He recently branded his Good Morning Britain co-hosts Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins “autocuties” who read whatever is put in front of them.

But embarrassingly for Piers Morgan, that’s just what he did HIMSELF during a blunder on Monday’s episode of the show.

The 52-year-old apparently didn’t heed his own advice to always question something odd in the autocue, when he read out: “Okay. Time check. Here’s your chance to win £300,000 in cash in our biggest competition….”

A gleeful Susanna immediately picked up on Piers’ error, telling him: “When it says time check, you’re supposed to say the time! It’s 7:49.”

Oops!

But in typical Piers style, he wasn’t going to take the blame, and couldn’t resist quipping about the heated interview he’d just done with a vegan campaigner named George – who wore a leather watch.

“If I had a leather watch like George, I would have been able to tell the time,” he told Susanna.

Oh, Piers… always an excuse!

Naturally viewers found the whole thing hilarious and couldn’t resist poking fun at Piers’ error on social media.

Even if he refused to show it, there’s no doubt Piers was left a tad red-faced by the error, especially as just a couple of weeks ago he had a go at Susanna and Charlotte for blindly reading autocues without question.

He told GMB viewers in September that he’d been arguing with Susanna and Charlotte off-camera, saying: “I just told them they are ‘autocuties’ as they just read whatever is put in front of them on a script.

“And they’re like, ‘No, no, no, we’re proper journalists!'”

Piers made the remark after Charlotte, 42, referred to a footballer’s header goal as a “headbutting” goal during her sports round-up.

Schooling her, footie fan Piers said: “It’s called a header! You [called it a headbutt] because that’s what it said in the script.

“It could have said, ‘[He] headbutted a bunch of fairy cupcakes into the goal’ and would any part of you have gone, ‘Fairy cupcakes? That doesn’t sound right’.”

Charlotte insisted she would have noticed that and argued that “headbutt” was technically correct given the player’s head touched the ball.

Susanna, 46, also told Piers: “Like you don’t read what’s on the autocue.”

Well, she was proved correct today, wasn’t she?!
