Piers Morgan gets “mugged off” after trying to making fun of Love Island star

Hayley Hughes had the last laugh!

Piers Morgan was left red-faced after trying to poke fun at Love Island’s Hayley Hughes by quizzing her on maths, but ended up getting the question wrong himself.

Piers and Susanna Reid were joined by dumped islanders Hayley, Kendall Rae Knight and Charlie Frederick on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain.

Piers, who has been openly critical of the reality series, tried to prove his belief that the contestants on the show aren’t intellectual.

The presenter, 53, decided to quiz Hayley on her general knowledge and asked her whether she knows “Pythagoras’ theorem to the nearest five decimal places”.

But Susanna was quick to turn the tables on Piers and asked: “Well, do you?”

Piers replied: “I do actually, it’s 3.147. They’re certainly the first four digits,” before members of the production team appeared to shout from behind the camera.

But Piers had got Pythagoras’ theorem mixed up with Pi and immediately spotted his mistake.

Piers then threw his hands in the air and shouted: “No, that’s Pi!

“Dammit. That’s Pi not the Pythagorus’ theorem, but you knew that didn’t you Hayley.”

Susanna, who was highly amused by Piers’ blunder, replied: “You just showed yourself up Piers Morgan on national television.”

Piers said: “I’ve just been mugged off, haven’t I? I’ve been pied off! I’ve been pied off,” referring to one of the show’s famous catchphrases.

Meanwhile, Hayley defended herself after she made headlines while in the villa for her geographical and general knowledge.

She believed Liverpool was a country and didn’t know what Brexit was.

Hayley told Susanna and Piers: “I wasn’t the brightest tool in the box in geography.”

Piers asked the star: “What’s your intellectual powerhouse?”

Hayley replied: “Anything but geography and Brexit… English.”

Piers cheekily said: “You like English. Can you speak English?”

Susanna cut in: “So rude. I don’t think you have to defend yourself Hayley. The point of Love Island is not about how good you are at georgaphy.”

Piers hit back: “What is the point in Love Island because I’ll be honest, I don’t get the point in it. It seems they put the dimmest people in Britain [in there] and you all try to have sex with each other.”

Although Piers said he doesn’t watch the show, he revealed on Twitter that he “accidentally stumbled” across an episode of the show last week.

“Accidentally stumbled across Love Island,” he tweeted. “My God, these cretins are even more stupid than I feared.”
