Piers Morgan explains his Good Morning Britain absence after worrying fans

Mystery solved!

Anyone a tad concerned about Piers Morgan’s surprise absence on Good Morning Britain today need not worry!

The 52-year-old was noticeably missing on Wednesday’s episode with Richard Madeley stepping in to co-host alongside Susanna Reid.

Was he ill? Indisposed? Stuck in traffic?

Er, no… turns out Piers is off enjoying the sunshine in Los Angeles while the rest of us shiver in the ever-cooling UK temperatures.

A cheery Piers took to Twitter to explain his absence in typically Piers style – by making us all jealous!

Tweeting a screengrab of the current weather in Beverly Hills, he said: “Thanks for all the concern over my ‘shock’ absence from GMB today. I just saw this weather forecast and realised I was in the wrong place.”

Naturally, there was a mixed response to his absence.

Some fans were begging him to return ASAP as Good Morning Britain just isn’t the same without him.

Others, however, urged Piers to stay away as long as possible!

Naughty!

Richard, meanwhile, said it was a “dream come true” to work with Susanna.

He told her: “We have met before. You interviewed me on another channel when my book came out and I remember thinking, ‘she’s actually listening to what I am saying and asking questions accordingly.’

“I thought, ‘I’d like to work with her one day’. Now my dream has come true!”

Susanna joked that the timing of Piers’ absence was rather funny, given a recent magazine cover declared she was desperate to get him booted from GMB so she could be the main star.

She laughed about the wild claim and revealed Piers would be off for a few days but back soon.

Enjoy the sunshine while you can, Piers!
