Piers Morgan celebrates new Twitter rule by embarrassing his son

He's got even more to say now

| Updated:

Watch out world, Piers Morgan has been given a licence to share even more of his controversial views.

The GMB presenter is delighted that his favourite social media channel Twitter has increased the number of characters in a tweet to 280 so his 6.2m followers can hear even more from him.

Wielding his new power this morning, Piers shared his first 280 character-length tweet.

But there were no words, it was a long stream of laughing, winking and flame emojis ending with #280.

Explaining himself on GMB, Piers told Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins the tweet was all about embarrassing his eldest son.

The father-of-four said: “My son hates it when I use emojis. He thinks it’s cringey, in fact the word cringey is also cringey.

“He thinks anyone over 50 should not use emojis so that tweet is for you Spencer.”

He added: That’s what you get for telling me what to do, I will keep using them no matter how much you like it. I will shame him into keeping quiet about my emoji use.”

Piers’ children aren’t the only ones alarmed that he can air even more of his views.

His co-host Susanna exclaimed: “Now we’re going to have double the number of tweets from you! As if 140 characters was holding you back!”

Piers’ followers had a mixed reaction to the news he will now have even more words to share with them.

Some were delighted while others were horrified.

Lord Sugar even got in on the act.
