Piers Morgan aghast as Hollywood A-lister jokes about punching him

Is this GMB or an episode of WWE?

| Updated:

It’s fair to say Piers Morgan’s outspoken and opinionated nature means he’s an acquired taste.

He has his supporters; he has his detractors.

But who would have guessed Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, 75, (jokingly) fell into the latter category?

Good Morning Britain viewers could have been mistaken for thinking they’d tuned in to an episode of WWE on Tuesday after hearing Harrison joke about landing a left hook on Piers, and Piers telling the superstar to just bring it on.

Er, how did this all happen?!

Let’s rewind: the funny situation all started when GMB’s showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold interviewed Harrison and his co-star Ryan Gosling for their new movie Blade Runner 2049.

There’s an anecdote doing the rounds that Harrison accidentally whacked Ryan during filming (thankfully he didn’t damage that face…) so naturally cheeky Richard couldn’t resist suggesting Harrison pop along to the GMB studio and repeat the manoeuvre with Piers.

Of course, once Piers heard about this he HAD to have his say – which brings us up to date with what happened on Tuesday’s show.

Piers, 52, said: “Harrison Ford gave an interview to Richard Arnold which I picked up on belatedly as I wasn’t in that day.

“There is a rumour Ford hit Gosling during filming of their new movie and Richard Arnold asked what I thought was a very unnecessary question.”

Viewers were then played the interview between Richard, Harrison and Ryan, in which Richard could be seen joking to Harrison: “We could do with you coming in and giving Piers Morgan a left hook once or twice!”

A laughing Harrison joked back: “The suggestion will not go unignored!”

Well, Piers was rather affronted!

Adopting a faux angry stance, he told Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins: “That suggestion will not go ignored? I mean, that’s a direct threat, isn’t it?

“Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones, has just made a direct, clear threat to cause me physical harm!”

Susanna joked: “Right… and he’s welcome any time.”

Oh, Piers, you walked into that one!

Piers wrapped things up by warning: “Well, you know what? Bring it on, Indiana. I’m ready for you buddy!”

Naturally it was all a bit of banter and said in jest, but it has got us thinking who would win…

Piers Morgan versus Harrison Ford, aka the man who stopped the Nazis, saved the galaxy, outsmarted Tommy Lee Jones, and basically just wins every single time….

Sorry Piers, we reckon Harrison’s got this!
