Well, we’ve all learned a lesson from Thursday’s episode of This Morning: Phillip Schofield does NOT like to lose!

The 55-year-old’s competitive streak came zooming out when he challenged Formula One superstar Jenson Button to a Scalextric race around the studio.

Fans were left chuckling as This Morning opened with the rather impressive track all set up, ready for Schofe to take on Button!

Holly Willoughby, meanwhile, was clutching the chequered flag.

What ensued was nothing short of comical!

Determined to win, Phillip was none too happy when his car abruptly stopped on the track, while Jenson’s went on to cross the finish line.

Er, unsurprising, given he’s, you know, an ACTUAL motor sport champion!

While Jenson celebrated, a grumpy Phil blamed his broken car for robbing him of victory.

“My car broke down, he hasn’t won!” shouted Phil.

“That’s what racing is about!” said Jenson.

“It is not, Jenson,” replied Phil. “That was just qualifying!”

Jenson chuckled: “I actually feel for him, look how serious he is! That happens in motorsport, you just have to take it on the chin and look to the next race.”

Nuh uh, said Phil!

He warned Jenson: “We are staying here all day until I win! Practice cars please!”

So, the cars were put back into the starting position once again for Phil to have another chance at racing, with Holly warning him: “Whatever happens now, you have to take it, okay?”

As Holly ran around the studio trying to keep the cars on the Scalextric track, she could be heard saying, “This is ridiculous!” as the two competitive men tried to win.

But alas for Phillip, it was Jenson who crossed the line first again!

“A dubious win,” said Phillip,” but there you go!”

Some viewers took to social media to brand Phillip a “bad sport”, with one saying: “Wow Phil, there’s fun and being a child.”

Another said: “Omg, what cringe TV thanks to @Schofe. @JensonButton looked highly embarrassed. Please stop.”

A third said: “What an utter, utter [bleep] Phillip Schofield is with the car racing.”

And a fourth added: “Jenson, you looked highly embarrassed by @Schofe acting up on #thismorning. He is so irritating sometimes.”

Others, however, found Phillip’s competitive streak rather endearing and said it made them laugh how much he wanted to beat Jenson.

Many more viewers found the whole thing hysterical!
