Phillip Schofield fails to acknowledge former co-star on This Morning

Well, we weren't expecting this!

This Morning views got a blast from the past today when Gordon The Gopher made a surprise appearance.

But even more surprising was the fact his old co-star and best pal, Phillip Schofield, totally failed to notice him!

Though, to be fair, he was pretty hard to spot!

Rather than getting a cosy chat with Holly and Phil on the sofa inside, poor old Gordon was unceremoniously stuck on the end of a sax while Wizzard performed outside in the freezing cold.

Phil, Holly and This Morning guest Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo were outside watching the band perform their classic festive hit, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, oblivious to poor Gordon’s chilly plight!

Luckily, eagle-eyed viewers were on hand to let Phil know his old friend was about!

One fan tweeted at Phil afterwards: “Did you say hello to Gordon the Gopher @Thismorning ? Poor thing hanging off that Sax in the cold!”

Phil replied: “Only noticed him at the end! #StuffedInASax!!”

Poor Gordon.

Gordon found fame alongside Phillip back in the 1980s on The Broom Cupboard, before they went on to star together on Going Live!

While Phillip’s gone on to huge success thanks to the likes of This Morning, Dancing On Ice, All Star Mr and Mrs, and generally just totally dominating ITV, poor Gordon’s had a rockier ride.

“I’ve got a restraining order against him and we don’t speak. He’s quite bitter and he has been ever since I got my role in Doctor Dolittle in the West End and he didn’t get offered the part.”

What a shame. But success can cause tension in friendships…

There were then rumours that Gordon had died in a tragic ram-raiding accident but, thankfully, this proved not to be true.

Apparently putting hard feelings behind them, Gordon appeared on This Morning back in 2010 to celebrate 25 years since The Broom Cupboard began.

But we sensed a bit of tension. Just look at Phil’s crossed arms. Very defensive.

“It’s lovely to have you along Gordon and thanks very much indeed,” said Phil. Frosty…

Earlier this year, Holly begged Phillip to bring Gordon back into the studio for another visit, after Phil said he’d come across the puppet in a wicker box in his attic.

But we’re guessing Gordon thought he’d be given the full A-list treatment, not stuck on the end of a sax next the Thames.

Better luck next time, Gordon.
