The BBC has confirmed that the scheduled episodes of Peter Kay’s Car Share will go ahead, even though the comedian has cancelled his tour and other upcoming work.

Peter announced this morning that he was cancelling his whole UK tour, as well as any other work, due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.

In a statement, he said: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.

“This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.”

But the new episodes of the hit series Peter Kay’s Car Share will be screened as planned.

The BBC has confirmed the unscripted episode, and the final ever episode will still happen, as they have already been filmed.

The unscripted episode follows John (Peter Kay) and Kayleigh (Sian Gibson) on their journey home from work and is completely improvised.

The series finale will let viewers know what happened to the cute couple.

The second series ended with Kayleigh declaring her love for John, and then walking away from his car.

But fans were annoyed that it had ended that way, so Peter decided to bring it back for the special episodes which are due on screen in 2018.

The news that the episodes will continue as planned will no doubt make viewers happy – as they’ve been desperate to see John and Kayleigh have a happy ending.

Peter has, quite understandably, not elaborated on the ‘unforeseen family circumstances’ that led to today’s cancellation of his tour.

He told fans: “My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.

“I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I’m very sorry.”

Fans have rushed to inundate him with well-wishes and agree that family always comes first.
