Pat Phelan is back in Coronation Street “with a vengeance”

Fans of the soap gave out a whoop!

Pat Phelan returned to Coronation Street last night – and fans let out a collective whoop to see the serial-killing psychopath again.

What that says about ITV viewers, we’re not sure!

The killer has been hiding out in a seaside B&B ever since his dramatic showdown with wife Eileen, after she found out the monster she was really married to.

Viewers thought he was dead, but he was ‘resurrected’ on Easter Monday when he was seen tending to his wounds in bed.

Ever since then, we’ve known it’s only a matter of time until he returns for revenge.

In scenes shown on Wednesday (18 April), viewers saw a glimpse of him again – and he was still scary as hell.

Pat made a brief appearance in the closing moments of the soap’s double bill, and dropped a sinister hint that his revenge is just around the corner.

We saw Pat watching the TV as his wife Eileen joined her neighbours’ campaign to get Anna Windass freed from prison.

Anna was jailed after Pat set her up and made it seem like she’d pushed Seb Franklin off a ladder.

As Eileen faced the camera, she had no idea that her presumed-dead husband would be watching the TV report as she described him as a “twisted, heartless killer”.

Hmmm, we think she might pay for that later!

Realising that Eileen’s support for his arch-enemy Anna meant she’s turned against him for good, Pat’s face shrivelled up in hate and he began plotting his next dastardly move.

Calling the owner of the B&B and using a fake name, Pat said: “Hello Mrs Gillen. I’m ever so sorry to disturb your book club. Just to let you know, I will be checking out tomorrow. Everything’s fine, just have to move on. Things to do…”

G.U.L.P.

Fans were super-excited to see the villain back, though – knowing that dramatic scenes are ahead…

One Twitter user wrote: “PATPHELAN is back with avengence he’s ready to strike again.”

Another was thrilled, adding: “YAY!!!! Pat Phelan, the man you love to hate! Best villain EVER!”

While a third said: “I must admit, I do give out a whoop when Pat Phelan is on screen.”

One even thought the “the best part of @itvcorrie last night was the last 15 seconds”.

So the killer definitely has a fan base… But will they still love him when he exacts his revenge and targets another Corrie resident?

We’ll have to wait and see!
