Loose Women viewers were left shocked yesterday when Gary Newman’s wife, Gemma, revealed an awkward secret about how they got together.

She was a member of his fan club!
Gemma confessed that it had been her dream to marry the ‘Cars’ singer when she was just ten years old. That’s sweet isn’t it? Not creepy at all…
Her dream came true back in 1997 when they became man and wife.
But Gary admitted that being married to a fan has come with its own set of problems.
He said: “You can’t live up to any of that can you, they [the fans] have posters on their walls and it’s all perfectly done. You look as good as you can, it’s on stage and all lit up.
“Then you sit in a car with them. You’re telling stories and you’re try to be interesting but they’ve heard everything.”
Never meet your heroes, they say. No one mentioned anything about marrying them.
Gemma added: “I had my little dream come true. I wanted to marry him since I was 10.
“I used to wish on my Dougal birthday cake every year. I had a careers talk at school, ‘what do you want to do when you leave school? I don’t need a a job I’m going to marry Gary Numan’ – except he’s in debt.”
She then went on to embarrass her hubby by revealing he took her to a Little Chef for their first date, but she didn’t mind him not splashing out.
Gemma said: “I don’t care about any of that stuff. I was completely excited. I’d always gone to gigs with make-up on so I decided not to wear make-up.”
Anyway, we’re just happy with the news that sometimes, just sometimes, fan girls’ dreams do come true.
