Kym Marsh hits out at claims Coronation Street are on the look out for “attractive young ladies”

She can't see it happening

Corrie actress Kym Marsh has slammed claims that bosses of the ITV soap are on the hunt for beautiful women to cast.

Speaking in her OK! column the 41-year-old star said she didn’t think the reports were true because the Manchester based soap is supposed to represent normal life.

Kym hinted it wouldn’t exactly look good if the long-running show was more focused on how its actors looked than what they can do.

She wrote: “There was a report that Corrie bosses are keen to hire more glamorous actresses, but I can’t imagine for one minute that is true!

“The Corrie characters are normal people, I don’t think it would be believable if everyone was super glamorous.

“Imagine if we were all walking around like something out of Dynasty on the cobbles of Weatherfield, it wouldn’t look great!”

The comments come after The Sun reported that Corrie bosses were on the lookout for two ‘sexy girls’ to fill the holes left by the likes of Michelle Keegan, Georgia May Foote and – later this year – Cath Tyldesley.

A source told the tabloid: “The show is hosting a number of auditions in the hope some attractive young ladies with acting skills steps forward and fits their bill.

A set insider also spoke to the paper, saying: “There has been a steady stream of beautiful actresses coming in for auditions and meetings about the new roles recently. It hasn’t gone unnoticed. They’ve been turning a lot of heads.”

However, an ITV spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “We are always looking for talented actors, both male and female. Their talent is what is important.”
