ITV viewers question if new Change Your Tune show is an April Fool’s JOKE!

There's not a great deal of love...

ITV’s newest talent show Change Your Tune debuted on Easter Sunday – and given the date (April 1), left some viewers wondering if it was an elaborate April Fool’s stunt.

The new programme is hosted by Baz Ashmawy, and sees contestants compete for a whopping £10,000 of prize money – appearing first to perform raw and untrained, and then returning to the stage after vocal coaching.

But it left many fans taking to social media to question whether the whole thing was legit.

“Change Your Tune must be some sort of April Fools… not good” commented one Twitter user.

“OK so it is gonna come out tomorrow that this was ITV’s April Fools Day Joke? Because…” asked another.

As presenter Baz promised viewers they were going to see the performances “of a lifetime”, social media was unconvinced.

First up, computer science teacher George from Kent, who might have dazzled on the looks front, but did little to wow music fans before OR after his training.

“If this George guy was my teacher at school I’d make sure I was in his class all day every day,” one smitten tweeter mused, only to be cut down by another who replied with a wry: ‘He should have stuck to teaching,’

Oh dear.

And so the armchair criticism continued, with stunned telly addicts remaining unmoved by the vocal performances, AND questioning the format of the show.

“Why aren’t we seeing the training?” asked one, pointing out that ‘as it stands, it’s just two bad performances with one being slightly better?’

Ouch.

And as the camera panned to the studio audience, even they didn’t seem too thrilled to be there, either…

However, it was a hit with some – with one watcher reckoning it could be the ideal platform for him to launch his own singing career on…

“Change your tune is the show for me!” the joker wrote. “Pretend to be a bad singer then win 10k…”

But sadly, the overall consensus for the first episode was not great – “Turned it off after 10 mins, what were you thinking ITV!” fumed one viewer.

It’s early days though, and all new progs need to find their feet and gel with their audience – maybe next week’s social media response will be better?
