I’m A Celeb’s Stanley Johnson almost DIED from flesh-eating bug during last jungle stay

Stanley contracted the bug in his underpants

Stanley Johnson caught a rare bug while trekking in Uganda after a rumba fly laid its eggs on his underpants as they hung up to dry.

After contracting the potentially fatal bug while abroad, his backside swelled up severely and doctors revealed that the eggs had penetrated his skin.

But the eggs weren’t Stanley’s only problem – they then hatched inside him and tried to eat their way out. Nice.

As soon as Stanley landed back in the UK following his trip to the jungle, he had to be taken to the Tropical Diseases Centre in London.

While there the infected fly larvae had to be cut out by a medical professional.

Stanley wrote about the incident in his book, Stanley, I Resume and said: “It looked large and fleshy, well nourished, I would say. I guess it must have been half an inch long, and almost as wide.

“The doctor had plucked it out from a position very near the surface. It had obviously been making a last desperate effort to fight for life and air.”

Boris Johnson’s dad also revealed that his wife Jenny was so afraid of the bugs that she made him sleep in the spare room.

So far Stanley seems to be a hit with his fellow celebrities. Toff has enjoyed quizzing him about his political family, asking if Brexit has ruined any of their Sunday lunches.

While Stanley’s old-fashioned views and traditional manners have kept some of the younger campmates entertained as he questions them about their careers.
