I’m A Celebrity reveals bizarre new feature in camp

Producers are hoping to encourage romance

We’re all familiar with the famous I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle shower.

But we could be seeing far less shower action than usual from this year’s famous campers after bosses revealed a brand new (and bit bizarre) addition to the camp.

Now, what would be most useful for the camp?

Nice warm beds? Extra cover from the rain? An actual, proper toilet rather than a dunny?

Nope. The producers have decided what the camp really needs this year is a bath. Yes. A bath. In the middle of the jungle. Useful.

And in a twist designed to encourage romance, the bath fits two and requires two people to pump the hot water.

We see what you’re doing there, producers!

The show’s producer Oliver Nash told The Sun: “The bath is an exciting new luxury that will probably be popular with some of the more image conscious so they can get really clean.”

It’s clear bosses are really hoping for jungle romance as they’ve also installed another new feature designed to encourage closeness: a swinging love seat.

Oliver told The Mirror: “It would be nice for a couple to sit in and we have some good potential couples coming our way. It was well used in the dry runs when we tested it out.

“There absolutely could be romance with our cast this year, there are a lot of very good looking people.

“The potential for romance is higher than ever.”

There have been rumours I’m A Celebrity bosses want this year’s series to rival Love Island when it comes to sizzling jungle romances.

But does that have any chance of happening?

Well, in a nutshell, yes!

This year’s jungle is preparing to welcome five married celebrities, four single celebrities and one whose current status is a bit confusing.

Of those single stars, however, all four of them have said they’re open to a bit of camp romance!

Excellent news for us viewers, right?

Former Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, 42, best known as Chester bad boy Warren Fox, has played coy on whether he’ll actively look for love in Oz, but refused to rule it out completely.

“That’s the whole enjoyment of life and the element of surprise,” he said.

Taking a similar stance is The Saturdays singer Vanessa White, 27, who said of finding a boyfriend Down Under: “Who knows? I am keeping my options open.”

YouTuber Jack Maynard, 22, admitted finding love would be a “poor decision” for him right now given his career commitments but it wouldn’t stop him enjoying a jungle fling!

“I am coming into this single,” he said.

“Where I am in my life right now and all the work I am doing, getting into a relationship would be a poor decision. I am focused on me and growing myself as much as possible.

“A jungle fling? What happens in the jungle stays in the jungle, apart from all the people watching it. But to be in a place for such a long time with a group of people… Anything can happen…”

Meanwhile, comedian Shappi Khorsandi, 44, insisted she is “really happily single” but added: “Never say no to a bit of love.”

Elsewhere, it’s all a bit confusing about whether Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo is single or not, as reports surfaced this week that she’d split from boyfriend James Middleton (not Kate’s brother, FYI, a different one), although neither has confirmed that.

A source told The Sun: “Toff wanted to be single for the jungle so she had no ties back at home.

“Toff is really throwing herself into the experience as she knows this has a potential to be a big boost for her career.”

The married celebrities taking part this year are Boris Johnson’s dad, former politician Stanley Johnson, 77, boxer Amir Khan, 33, retired footballer Dennis Wise, 50, Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine, 33, and WAG Rebekah Vardy, 35.

While the single stars are open to love, the married ones have admitted it will be difficult being away from their loved ones.

Dennis admitted it will be tough having no contact with his wife, saying: “My wife was a bit apprehensive at first but the children thought it would be good and so she thought it would be a great thing to have a go at.”

I’m A Celebrity starts Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
