I’m A Celebrity bosses want former campmate to return for new series

The larger than life character could get another bite of the cherry

A reality TV favourite is in talks with I’m A Celeb bosses to return to the show, after she had to drop out of the jungle earlier than planned when she first entered in 2014.

TOWIE’s Gemma Collins is reportedly being invited back to the show, as it returns this winter for its seventeenth series.

A source revealed to The Sun that I’m A Celeb host Dec Donnelly is backing the move, because he would like to see Gemma come back.

The source said: “Gemma has been backed by Dec, he thought she was really good [last time she was on] and he told Gemma she would be great if she came back to the show.

“She’s riding on the crest of a wave right now – she’s doing well on TOWIE, she’s massive on social media after all the memes and everyone is a bit obsessed with her.

“She is in talks to sign up but it’s early days. Nothing is set in stone yet.”

Gemma, 36, appeared on the show in 2014 but quit after just 72 hours, due to health conditions.

She later claimed that she left the jungle because she had been physically abused by ex-boyfriend Alex Moss the night before the show started, though Alex denies these allegations.

Another reality TV star who is in talks to appear on the much-loved ITV show is Love Islander Jonny Mitchell.

A source revealed that he has been approached by the bosses, because they want to attract the eyes of female viewers.

“Bosses said he would be the perfect hunk for the show and have asked him to come for a meeting,” a source told The Sun.

“Obviously, he’s over the moon and would jump at the chance.”

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly always present the show live from Australia, but since Ant’s recent rehab stint it was unclear for a while if he would be well enough to return to host this year’s show.

But ITV boss Kevin Lygo has confirmed the news everyone had hoped for – that Ant WILL almost certainly return this year.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, the TV bigwig insisted the show would go ahead and Ant would be part of it.

He was asked if ITV were considering resting the show as a result of Ant’s battle, to which Lygo responded: “How very dare you!

“Ant is doing really well and we’re expecting him to return to I’m A Celebrity, so we won’t be resting it.”

No date has been confirmed for the return of the show, but it is expected to air as normal in November.
