I’m A Celeb viewers slam campmates’ behaviour during trial

How to not make friends and alienate people

Jungle fans were divided tonight after I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! newcomer Iain Lee got a rather unfriendly welcome.

The Talk Radio DJ, 44, arrived in camp alongside former Scottish Labour Party leader Kezia Dugdale on Thursday night’s episode and quickly ruffled feathers.

Coming into camp late when everyone else is settled is always going to be hard.

But Iain didn’t do much to endear himself to the group when he boldly declared: “You lot look really [bleeped]. Sorry, but you look very exhausted.”

A bit of a shock statement to people you’ve never met, right?

“That’s a way to welcome yourself,” said a surprised Ant.

Not that we’re surprised, really, given Iain warned before entering the jungle: “I love talking to people and I love engaging with people but the thing I really love is arguing with people.

“It would be fair to say part of my job and pleasure in life is slightly stirring things up a bit. I’m annoying, that’s my job. I get paid to be annoying.”

Iain and Kezia had quite the welcoming party on Thursday’s episode: they arrived in camp and were immediately thrust into their first Bushtucker Trial in order to gain control of the celebrities.

All the celebs were gathered together and told they would be split into two opposing camps led by Iain and Kezia.

They had to back either Iain or Kezia to win the Bushtucker Trial – and sadly for Iain everyone chose the Scottish politician! Maybe don’t insult a room of strangers next time, huh?

He took it well, to be fair, laughing: “You’ve made the right choice team, well done!”

Some viewers weren’t too impressed, branding the campmates ‘mean’ for choosing to fully back Kezia, leaving Iain flying solo.

Others found it hilarious, comparing it when you’re picked last in PE at school.

Ah, the horrid memories!

Iain and Kezia then got down to the task – called The Battle of Downing Creek.

They had to climb through various gross chambers filled with all sorts of yucky delights while trying to collect stars.

But getting the last laugh, Iain was crowned the winner, making him the Jungle Prime Minister.

He was able to choose five celebrities to join him in Croc Creek, where a nice hot meal would be waiting, while the other stars would go with Kezia to Snake Rock and basic rations.

The lucky ones picked by Iain were Shappi, Dennis, Jennie, Amir and Stanley.

Plenty of viewers said they were delighted that Iain had won, saying it was a bit of a ‘haha’ to all the contestants for not choosing to be on his team.

I’m A Celebrity airs 9pm on ITV.
