Stanley Johnson voted off I’m A Celebrity amidst recount demands

A fifth campmate has left the jungle!

| Updated:

Stunned jungle viewers were left sobbing tonight as early favourite Stanley Johnson was eliminated from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Some even demanded a recount, refusing to believe it was Stanley’s time to go!

The politician and author – who is the father of Boris Johnson – became the fifth star to leave the show on Wednesday night.

He managed 20 days in camp.

Speaking to Ant & Dec afterwards, Stanley said: “I’m gutted to be out, you have no idea – my gut is considerably smaller than it was!

“I had a wonderful time, what a privilege.”

It broke the cycle of women leaving, after fans pointed out the first four casualties of the public vote were ladies.

Even Ant said at the start of the show: “Every single day has been ladies first; four women have gone which has left us with a lot of men!”

Stanley told Ant & Dec he couldn’t wait to get back to his emails: “I want to know what’s been happening in the great outside world. Is my son still foreign secretary?! I’m sure he is! He’s doing a fantastic job but I want to look it up quickly!”

While Stanley, the oldest jungle contestant ever at 77, was ever the gent in his exit chat, heartbroken fans took to social media to demand a recount!

It was a drama-packed episode all around, after Iain and Dennis kicked off proceedings with a row over the latest Bushtucker Trial.

Iain volunteered to take it on, but Jamie also wanted a shot.

It led Dennis to intervene and suggest Iain wasn’t the best option given he’d failed two previous tasks and had to call, “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!”

A miffed Iain said he’d failed just ONE trial and the other was a dingo dollar challenge, and suggested Dennis’ remarks meant he wasn’t allowed to try any challenge for the rest of his time in the jungle.

Dennis merely pointed out the camp needs to eat and maybe they should give the trial to someone with a better track record.

The two men did, however, make up, with Dennis saying Iain should put himself forward for the next trial.

Jamie ended up taking on the Tutankha-Doom Bushtucker, which involved climbing through an ancient tomb to collect eight stars.

Naturally, he was joined by everything from scorpions to lizards, cane toads, snakes and cockraches.

The soap star managed to find six out of eight stars, winning food for camp but missing out on the chance for an alcoholic drink.

Perhaps wisely he decided not to tell everyone the latter part!

Elsewhere, Jennie and Toff won the evening’s dingo dollar challenge and chose to take Jamie and Iain’s letters from home, rather than popcorn.

Iain was treated to a sweet message from his two young sons, while Jamie got a message from his mum Helen and sisters Charley and Cassie.

I’m A Celeb airs nightly on ITV.
