I’m a Celeb stars forced to compete in hair-raising stunt, before they even get to the jungle

Get them down from there!

Instead of relaxing in Australia before the the gruelling tasks of the I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! jungle begin, this year’s contestants have already been forced to face some fears, in a dramatic death-defying stunt.

Before they get to the usual cornucopia of snakes, spiders, mud and ruthless competition, the stars have been thrown out on a terrifying limb.

An elaborate rig set with multiple planks was erected on top of a high-rise apartment building, looking out over the ocean.

The stars were made to walk out to the edges of the scaffolding as part of a challenge, before the real competition has even started.

The Sun has shared footage of the challenge, which appears to be an early trial designed to help split the contestants into two teams.

Hosts Ant and Dec looked on while the celebrity contestants took turns to venture out into the sky – with only a narrow metal beam between them and the earth below.

Some celebrities seemed better at hiding their fear than others – Jamie Lomas launched himself along the beam, with his face gritted against the challenge.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine looked nervous as she edged out into the sky.

Ant McPartlin seemed happy to be on set – and with his feet firmly planted on the roof – after uncertainty over whether he would make it back to the show.

The star headed to rehab over the summer, giving rise to rumours he would be replaced as host.

He was coping with an addiction to prescription medication, after going through a painful procedure on his knee.

But he seems to have conquered his demons, joining co-host Dec Donnelly in Australia and gearing up for the new season.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! will be hitting screens this Sunday night.
