The X Factor mulls major changes, may axe Sunday shows and Bootcamp

Will some of our faves be disappearing for good?

With rumours of The X Factor undergoing some huge changes, including the axing of the Sunday shows, it seems that bosses are thinking about what they do next very carefully.

The 2017 series saw big changes to the format, including new staging, acts being spread over two shows over the weekend, as well as rewarding the singers with big prizes.

But decisions about certain parts of the show are still under review, with the possibility of Bootcamp being given the, er, boot!

As it’s so similar to the Six Chair Challenge, it seems that bosses could skip Bootcamp, a long and laborious part of the show, and just head straight into the most nerve wracking part of the audition process instead.

It would certainly save them some money on filming too!

The X Factor averaged nearly six and a half million per episode with a series peak of nearly eight million last year.

And while some people are quick to knock the show, they are also quick to forget that it’s made some huge stars like One Direction, Little Mix, James Arthur and Olly Murs along the way.

Whilst there is no confirmation of the Sunday shows being axed, a source told Entertainment Daily: “The X Factor is the biggest music TV show on air in the UK and changes are often looked at as a way to evolve and strengthen it for future series.”

When asked for verification on changes to the format of the TV show happening, an X Factor spokesperson said: “No decisions have been made about the new series.”
