Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas explains why he’s doing I’m A Celebrity

Say goodbye to bad boy Warren!

Jamie Lomas is best known to most of us as Hollyoaks bad boy Warren Fox.

But he’s hoping his stint in the I’m A Celebrity jungle will show a new side of him – to both us viewers and his children!

The 42-year-old has admitted his kids have only ever seen him play the bad guy on TV, so it will be nice for them to see their dad in a different role on screen.

Jamie had to say goodbye to son Billy and daughter Polly before entering the jungle.

Polly’s mum is Jamie’s ex-wife, Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, while he shares Billy with former partner Haley Lever.

“I am going to really miss my children. That’s going to be so difficult,” he said.

“I only told them a few days before I went away, but they do love the show and one of the reasons for doing this is to make them proud.

“They’ve only seen their dad as a bad man on TV and so it will be nice for them to see me on this.

“We all really love the show as a family.”

While Jamie’s thrilled to be Down Under, he has admitted to mixed emotions ahead of I’m A Celebrity starting – largely because he prefers to keep his private life away from the spotlight.

“Excited? I don’t know if that is the right word!” he said.

“I am nervous, apprehensive and it’s a mix of emotions. You can’t prepare yourself for this because you don’t know what to expect.

“Now it is getting closer, I am getting more nervous. It feels alien to me. I am quite a private person and for me to put myself out there is new. I can’t hide behind the cameras nor can I hide behind my character.”

When asked what sort of character he’ll be in camp, the soap star admitted he’s a bit of a joker but also happy to get stuck in with chores.

“I can cook and if they want me to cook, I will do so,” he said.

“I think I am a bit of a wind up and I like to play a few jokes. If people are feeling a bit low, I might be the one who gets everyone up and gives them a few words of wisdom.”

Jamie will be joined in the I’m A Celeb jungle by nine other celebrities.

They include Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine (Fiz), The Saturdays singer Vanessa White, comedian Shappi Khorsandi, Made In Chelsea reality star Georgia Toffolo and WAG Rebekah Vardy.
