Hollyoaks fans broken-hearted as soap favourite leaves

Tear-jerking episode leaves fans devastated as one character leaves and their relationship ends

Hollyoaks fans were left broken-hearted last night, after one of their favourite characters made a sad exit.

Darren Osborne (played by Ashley Taylor Dawson) was sentenced to six months in prison for drug dealing.

And tragically, his girlfriend Nancy didn’t make it to court in time to see him before he was sent down.

The day before, and knowing he might be facing a spell in jail, Darren had organised a romantic final day of freedom for him and Nancy.

He’d planned a picnic for them and the kids and went to collect Nancy from school, but she rejected his offer.

And that was enough to send him back into bad habits – the gambling addict had a relapse, hit the bottle and ended up in Damon’s bar for a poker night.

So the following day Nancy was too angry to go along and support him. Although she did later change her mind and race to the court, she was too late to see distraught Darren who’d already been sentenced.

When she came across Jack outside and asked where Darren was, he was furious with her and replied “He’s in jail!” before pointing out she hadn’t been there and asking: “How could you?”

And the emotional scenes had fans in tears, as they said goodbye – for at least half a year – to one of their favourites.

There were broken heart and crying face emojis all over Twitter, as they shared their sadness.

“I just want Nancy and Darren to be ok and happy, together and not in jail. That’s all I ask of u @Hollyoaks !” said one upset fan.

Another added: “Best but worst episode of hollyoaks ever! I can’t lose warren and darren!!!”

A third asked: “Have they seriously just killed off Warren and sent Darren to prison? I CAN NOT DEAL #WarennaWedding #hollyoaks”

One summed up what most were thinking: “@Hollyoaks awww Darren you’re breaking my heart!”

And a few fans revealed that Darren was the main reason they watched the show.

Here’s hoping he gets out early for good behaviour.
