Here’s what Phillip Schofield was doing instead of being on This Morning

Viewers were none too happy that Phil and Holly were missing from This Morning on Monday

It feels like only yesterday that Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were off on their summer holidays from This Morning.

So many viewers were quite surprised when they tuned into the show on Monday morning to find them missing yet again, this time enjoying a half-term break.

Instead of Holly and Phil, viewers had Ben Shephard and Amanda Holden overseeing things.

Which begs the question, just what were Holly and Phil up to?!

Well, so far Holly’s kept mum on social media about her half-term plans, but given she’s a mother to three young children, they will no doubt include lots of family time and a spot of trick-or-treating over Halloween!

Social media-loving Phil, however, has given us a glimpse of his half-term plans.

Sadly for the TV icon, his break from the screen didn’t get off to the best of starts.

Phillip, 55, found himself nursing a VERY painful looking thumb after jabbing himself on a Hawthorn tree while out walking his dog.

Sharing a photo of the raw and swollen looking area to Snapchat, he lamented: “Think I’m allergic! It’s soooo painful! Send help!”

Another picture showed the star staring ruefully into the camera.

It featured the caption: “It’s only when your thumb hurts like a mothertrucker that you realise how opposable it is when it opposes to oppose.”

Try saying that ten times in a row quickly!

Thankfully Phillip found a good way of numbing the pain: G&T – and lots of it!*

He uploaded a photo of himself holding a glass of the good stuff with ice and lime, alongside the note: “G&T is helping to numb (well the first three didn’t…)”

*Drink responsibly people!

Luckily, Phillip’s injury didn’t prevent him getting out on Monday to do a spot of filming with Vernon Kay.

While Ben and Amanda took over on This Morning, Phillip was enjoying himself flying drones around a hangar for a new TV project.

And clearly he was rather excited by it all, sharing a video to Snapchat showing one of the drones whizzing around.

Have fun, Phil!

But remember, it’s just for a week, okay? We’re counting on you and Holly being back on those sofas come Monday!

Ben and Amanda will continue to present This Morning until Thursday, with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford in their usual Friday slot.
