GMB viewers in hysterics as Richard Arnold screams in fear over virtual reality experience

Richard trying out the new attraction was definitely TV gold

| Updated:

Watching Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold try out a new virtual reality experience, which is not for the faint-hearted, has been the highlight of our day.

Richard, 47, volunteered to try out the new attraction at the London’s Shard but couldn’t help but scream in fear after trying out a virtual slide.

If you didn’t know, the VR experience makes the star feel like he’s being hurtled down a giant glass slide in the middle of the sky.

The presenter put on the virtual reality headset and positioned himself on the slide simulator.

Viewers were given a chance to see exactly what Richard was seeing in his virtual world – and it was pretty terrifying!

The slide went through a series of steep drops at a super-quick speed.

Watching from the studio, hosts Jeremy Kyle and Kate Garraway couldn’t help but giggle as Richard struggled with keeping his screams in.

Jezza, who is standing in for Piers Morgan over the summer, shouted: “Could you take the headset off and stop making that noise now?”

As Richard’s horror came to an end he couldn’t help but share his experience. He told the hosts: “It’s horrendous. It is absolutely unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

Viewers watching from home were left in hysterics watching the presenter.

One wrote on Twitter: “#GMB Thank you for making me laugh out load at Richard Arnold, on the virtual roller coaster.”

“Richard Arnold on the virtual helter skelter at #TheShard was TV gold!!! #GMB,” another said.

A third tweeted: “@RichardAArnold You’re a braver person than me Richard  I can’t wait to watch you though #GoodLuck  @gmb #GMB.”

Another added: “That was without a doubt the funniest thing I’ve seen on TV in a ages! Well worth getting up for!  #GMB @GMB @RichardAArnold @shardview.”

Richard also tried out the vertigo experience which saw him walking on a scaffolding across London.

Before heading into the virtual world Richard told fans: “I’m going to try the vertigo experience here at The View from The Shard.

“This is the experience that the builders had when they were walking on the scaffolding across London 800ft high up.”

The reporter, who revealed he is scared of heights, looked terrified as he tried to walk across the building.

Jezza jumped in saying: “He’s having a mare. The heights to which he’ll go to. Are you alright Richard?”

Richard replied: “It’s horrible!”

Meanwhile the show is currently being taken over by loud presenter Jeremy.

The star is standing in for Piers over the summer and has just started his three-week stint.

But fans aren’t warming to him at all and some are even begging Piers to come back.

It seems Jezza, 52, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea after viewers branded him too “loud” and “annoying” for so early in the morning.

One viewer ranted on Twitter: “#gmb please get rid of Kyle. Or it’ll be death of @GMB.”

“Jeremy Kyle doesn’t suit presenting on Good Morning Britain, so annoying. Stick to your own show #gmb #goodmorningbritain,” another added.

A third tweeted: “Jeremy Kyle is the same on #gmb as he is on #jeremykyle loud and sodding annoying.”

Speaking about being on the show Jeremy previously said: “I’m really looking forward to being back on GMB this August to wake the nation up over the summer holidays.

“Now all I need to do is find my alarm clock!”

Jezza will co-host the show with Kate Garraway from Monday to Wednesdays over the next three weeks.

This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes hosted the show at the beginning of last week with Charlotte before Ben Shephard and co-star Kate presented near the end of the week.

It’s believed that Richard Madeley, 61, will also present the show later on in August.

The show’s favourites Susanna Reid and Piers will return to the show in September.
