GMB viewers slam mum who joked about wanting to kill her kids

Some topics are off-limits for many parents

Good Morning Britain viewers were in an uproar after watching a heated debate about how long children’s summer holidays should be.

Hosts Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins were joined by mum-of-two Kerry Davies, who admitted she finds the six-week summer break extremely “stressful” and believes it should be reduced.

Kerry jokingly admitted that by the end of the second week, she wants to “kill” her kids and “throw them out the window”.

Speaking about the summer break, Kerry – who is mum to an eight-year-old and 12-year-old – said: “It just causes tension in the households.

“The moment you hit week one, by the end of week one they’re bored for starters, by the end of week two I want to kill them and throw them out of the window.”

Kerry added: “So as far as the pressures are concerned, just emotionally and financially it is ridiculously long. We don’t live in the 1930s anymore.”

Kerry said she only gets five weeks off work and her children get 13 throughout the year, so it can be a “challenge” to find childcare when she’s working.

However, Kerry’s comments didn’t go down well with viewers.

One person wrote on Twitter: “No wonder her kids can’t wait to get back to school if she is wanting to kill them by the end of the summer hols. Why bother having kids?”

Another ranted: “Why does someone think it’s alright to say ‘I want to kill my children’, even said in jest that’s such negative parenting.”

However, it seems some people agreed with Kerry that the summer holidays are too long.

One person wrote: “School holidays [are] far too long with 6 weeks. Helps nobody with difficult in childcare, children cannot do this in any working life!”

Another tweeted: “I do dread the summer holidays but unfortunately I don’t get the time off work too. Parents are so quick to shame other parents…look at the bigger picture!”
