Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas pinched his part in Neighbours from brother Adam!

Ryan got lucky!

Former Corrie star Ryan Thomas has admitted he snatched his new role as Rafael Humphreys in Neighbours from under the nose of brother Adam.

Ryan was on Lorraine this morning, chatting to presenter Christine Lampard about his part in the Aussie soap.

And he admitted for the first time that brother Adam, who starred in Emmerdale as Adam Barton, could have been sunning himself Down Under instead of him.

“They offered the part to me and Adam,” Ryan confessed. “But Adam was still in Emmerdale. So it was great. I was like, yes I’ll take this one, Adam!”

But, ever the generous brother, Ryan added: “If Adam was up for the part, he’d have got it because he’s just that bit more talented than I am!”

Ryan gave Christine more clues about his mysterious alter ego Rafael.

“There’s a problem with Paul Robinson,” he said. “There have been daggers across the bar.”

And he talked about his first day at Neighbours.

“I get a little bit of goosepimples thinking about it,” he told Christine. “I have to pinch myself that I got the opportunity to act in that show. It’s crazy.

“For so many years I was comfortable at Corrie, and then suddenly I was the new boy. I’m at the dinner table on my own, looking round to make friends. And then before you know it I had a table full of new friends. They welcomed me with open arms.”

And he added: “That’s why I left Coronation Street – for these experiences.”

With rumours rife that Ryan’s Corrie alter-ego Jason Grimshaw could return to finish off evil Pat Phelan, Christine asked if he would go back to the show.

“It’s so nice to be reminded of where I came for, and it’s the most asked question,” said Ryan, neatly side-stepping the question. “I left for new adventures.”

Could those new adventures include bringing an end to Phelan’s reign of terror? We live in hope!
