However, not all ITV viewers have been welcoming, with some saying they can’t understand the disabled actor.
Actor James Moore has Ataxic cerebral palsy and even considered giving up on his dream of becoming an actor because of it.
And on Friday (27 July), James was forced to shut down critics who have accused him of not speaking clearly.
Typically, he did it in the best possible way – with humour.

Posting a message to his 5,400 Twitter followers, he wrote: “To everyone who says they can’t understand me in Emmerdale, I have compiled this easy to use guide for your viewing pleasure. Simply set the option to ‘English’ and enjoy.”
He later added: “Just to clarify – I’m not bothered, I just thought this was funny.”
Fans were quick to show their support, with one replying: “I can understand every word you say perfectly. So either I have some kind of Superman hearing power I didn’t know about or these people complaining are just trolling. Please don’t pay attention to them. You are absolutely brilliant.”
Another said: “Best response I’ve heard ever – love your sense of humour. I can understand you perfectly well x.”
A third joined in, adding: “I quite literally could not love you more right now.”
“Now that’s funny!” said another. “Haters gonna hate. Keep being awesome.”
He later returned to social media to thanks fans for their messages, saying: “Thanks for all the positive responses guys – I understand people telling me to ignore stuff but change only happens when you speak up!”
Earlier this month, James was forced to defend his appearance after some viewers shared their unwelcome opinions.
Taking to social media, he typed: “To everyone who has commented about my hair, or my style – I think someone said I looked homeless – maybe you should be focusing more on the plot and less on superficialities. Acting isn’t a beauty contest.”
