Emmerdale viewers watched in shock as Ross Barton attacked Debbie Dingle in dramatic scenes aired this week (Wednesday 6 March).
Fans of the ITV soap saw a drunken Ross lash out at Debbie – unaware that she in fact responsible for his recent horrific acid attack.
Understandably angry after being left disfigured, Ross’s behaviour has been escalating as he comes to terms with what’s happened and attempts to find out who did it.

But when the doctor told Ross (Michael Parr) that his face will never be the same again – even after another skin graft – he was devastated.
“These scars are never going to go away,” he said.
Pete filled Debbie in on what had happened at the hospital, and took her round to see the patient.
But it was terrible timing when Debbie made an ill-advised comment about Ross’s skin graft. The poor bloke saw red and snarled: “Who wants to stare at a freak like this every day?”
Viewers then saw Ross grab Debbie’s jaw as he pushed her up against a kitchen cupboard, with Pete forced to intervene…

Some fans were disgusted with Ross’s behaviour, with one saying: “Wow. Any sympathy I had for Ross disappeared the second he put his hands on Debbie in temper.”

However, others were firmly on Team Ross.
One Twitter user wrote: “Ross going to wish he done a hell of lot more to Debbie when he finds out.”
Another simply stated: “Debbie deserved that.”

How will Ross come to terms with the aftermath and the knowledge that he’ll never look the same again? And more importantly how will he react when he discovers Debbie really is to blame for his injuries?
