Emmerdale viewers call out soap for parenting blunder

Was it really a big deal?

We are beginning to think some people only watch soaps so they can sit and pick holes in the plots, or try and weed out inaccuracies.

They must get a certain smarty pants satisfaction from calling out mistakes on social media amidst like-minded nit pickers.

And they were at it again during last night’s Emmerdale.

Seemingly they are experts in family law, as they were convinced the show had blundered with one of Rebecca’s demands.

Back in the hospital, she was visited by Robert, but is now blaming him for causing the crash that killed Chrissie and Lawrence.

She ordered him away from their son, Seb, instead placing him in the care of Lachlan, who was actually the cause if the accident and their family members’ deaths.

Last night, Robert was worried about the baby who was crying constantly and not sleeping.

He told Lachlan he wanted to take him, but he said no – it was Rebecca’s decision who would guard him.

But viewers pointed out that the White teenager would not be allowed to refuse, and nor would Rebecca.

Robert is named on the birth certificate and has the right to take over care of his son.

One viewer furiously typed: “This is just silly….Robert is the babies dad….he is his legal guardian, so he kidnapped him and drove away yet is now just rolling over when he’s actually got the law on his side? [sic]”

Another Tweeted: “She does know custody doesn’t work like that. If he’s on the birth certificate, then she can’t stop him having Sebastian. Isn’t Lachlan also under 18? So is it even legal for him to have the baby? #Emmerdale.”

A third chimed in: “Sorry but as Rebecca has a brain injury, care for Seb is Robert’s responsibility.”
