Gemma Atkinson sent fans into a frenzy when she posted a pic on Instagram of a reunion with her former Emmerdale cast mates.

Gem starred as Carly Hope for two years before she quit to dazzle audiences with her foxtrots and paso-dobles on Strictly Come Dancing.

Her followers called for her to return to the Dales when they saw the pic of her posing with Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle), Michelle Hardwick (Vanessa Woodfield) and Amy Walsh (Tracy Metcalfe.)

She posted the pic with the caption: “Reunited!!!!! @danny_b_miller @amyvwalsh @missmichellehardwick missed you all so much! #EmmerdaleGang.”

The snap was taken on Thursday night when Gem won her first glitterball trophy on the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

But fans were more interested in when she would be heading back to Yorkshire, calling for a quick return to the Dales.

One fan commented: “Need you back in Emmerdale lass ASAP,” while another added: “Ahh so that was the rowdy lot in the audience last night! Well done on your win last night!! Great show!” and a third wrote: “Need you back in emmerdale x”

Gemma left the ITV soap back in May when Carly was reunited with her ex-boyfriend and father of her son, Matt.

The scenes were super emotional as their son Billy died from cot death when he was just two months old. Matt had only seen him once after walking out on Carly when she was pregnant.

Carly was in a relationship with Marlon Dingle when she left and his young daughter April was devastated by her departure.

Gemma spoke to Metro about her exit last year, saying Carly would 100% return one day.

She said: “”I think she’ll go off but eventually come back not to cause trouble but maybe to make amends.

Hopefully she will find Marlon happy with someone else.

I’m 100 per cent sure Carly will return, it’s just a case of working out why and when and who she can mess up!’”

Emmerdale continues Monday at 7pm on ITV
