Emmerdale viewers accuse soap of committing SAME storyline blunder in weeks

But is it a mistake?

| Updated:

Emmerdale viewers prepared to say goodbye to one of their favourite villagers last night as Sandy Thomas pondered leaving for pastures new.

The old boy has had a renewed spring in his step this week, following the arrival of glamorous traveller Maisie.

She was over from Australia, where she is big pals with Betty, and came armed with comedy Oz gifts.

Sandy and Maisie were getting on like a house on fire when she spoiled the fun by announcing that she had to return home; her ticket was already booked.

But then came a surprise – Sandy opened an envelope among Betty’s presents and inside was a first class ticket to Down Under.

There followed some serious soul searching about whether he should follow his heart to new adventures, or stay with his beloved family.

Does Sandy take the opportunity to live a little more? Well, we revealed last week that actor Freddie Jones has quit his role… and new pictures from next week reveal him enjoying his new Antipodean life.

In Monday’s episode, Laurel organises a video call in the Woolpack, so all his friends and family can see how he is settling in.

But, hang on, viewers think they have spotted a flaw in the plot… the date on Sandy’s ticket is for tomorrow.

So, as they point out, there’s the small question of his visa. Hmmm…

The soap faced similar backlash when the Whites announced that they were all moving to Australia, with many fans pointing out Lachlan would struggle getting in with his criminal record.

Let’s not let that spoil our enjoyment, eh?

Viewers are also, of course, sad to see actor Freddie Jones leaving the soap as Ashley’s lovable dad.
