Emmerdale thrills viewers with second surprise return

Another adored character is back!

Emmerdale characters are a bit like buses, eh? You wait ages for your old favourite to turn up, and then another swiftly rounds the corner.

Chas Dingle returned to Emmerdale last night and no sooner had we got used to her flirty, flicky-haired-ness being back, than son Aaron appeared in tonight’s first outing.

Chas was almost as thrilled to see him as the rest of us were!

Aaron’s comeback was a bit less dramatic than Chas’s…

Having been away from the village for months caring for Aaron’s stepmum, Sandra, in Ireland, we were as stunned as Paddy to see her turn up in the village unannounced.

The first we saw of her, she burst into Paddy and Marlon’s place and didn’t even say so much as hello to shock Pads before she asked:

“Are you or are you not currently identifying as a single male?”

Paddy looked suitably confused, before she added: “Are you seeing anyone?”

When he confirmed he wasn’t, Chas said “great” – before pouncing on him.

After a frantic bit of snogging, Chas pushed him back on the sofa before making some strange sort of whinnying sounds and jumping on top of him.

Odd. Very, very odd.

It seems fans thought so too and after the episode ended they voiced their confusion at what had unfolded on Twitter:

But most fans were absolutely thrilled to have Chas back on their screens.

When Chas left there was really no hint of anything between the pair. The last time they’d tried to get together it had all gone horribly wrong.

And the time before that when they actually were together, she ended up cheating on him with Carl King.

Really, these two are better off as friends, so what has made Chas act in such a impulsive and frankly bizarre manner is anyone’s guess!

Should Paddy be worried? Are these two going to make it third time lucky? Or should they just cut their losses and be buddies?
