ITV are about to wave goodbye to an Emmerdale character next week, as a shocking tragedy devastates the farming village.
And while fans can’t help speculating over who will die, ITV have given us a few hints too…
We’ve been told that a “terrible event” will unfold next week, leading to the death of one of the residents.
And, while appearing on This Morning this week (Tuesday 8 May), writer Sharon Marshall fuelled speculation when she admitted it would be a popular character.

She teased: “Watch out next week as there’ll be some terrible events in the village, leading to the death of one of the residents.
“And I have to say, this was a hard one to let go, this character.”
We’ve also been told that the tragic events will revolve around the B&B.
“We’re remaining tight-lipped about exactly what’s going to happen, so the audience can watch the drama as it takes place on screen,” an Emmerdale spokesperson told Inside Soap magazine.

Some theories believe Doug Potts will be the victim as he refuses to call in builders to deal with a crack above the door, instead choosing to fix it himself.
Will his shoddy handiwork lead to his own death or someone else’s?
Others believe beloved character Aaron Dingle will be the one to die, as he is missing in action at the time of the disaster.
The fatal event occurs while Chas Dingle and Paddy Kirk’s engagement party is in full swing at The Woolpack, but Paddy gets stressed when he sees that Aaron hasn’t turned up.
Is Aaron in serious danger or is another local due to meet the Grim Reaper?

Other theories include Gerry Roberts, who recently found out the truth about the Whites’ road crash…
Many Emmerdale fans have predicted that it’s Gerry who dies, with one saying: “Looks like it’s Gerry that’s going to die and I’m gonna die too I thought he’d be in forever he’s such an unique character…… If he doesn’t die I’ll be so happy.”
Another questioned: “Oh ay, Gerry’s gonna die isn’t he?”
Or could it be killer Lachlan White, who has been living on borrowed time since the accident?
Fans will have to wait and see…
