Emmerdale SPOILER: The net closes in on Emma as Finn learns THE TRUTH!

The nutty nurse makes one mistake too many

It’s the secret that we are DESPERATE to be found out, but Emmerdale’s Emma Barton just keeps finding a way to talk herself out of being exposed for killing fiance James Barton.

But the screws are tightening as her son Finn comes across incriminating evidence and Emma is forced into a shock confession.

We thought she was set to be exposed when Laurel Thomas found out Emma had pushed James off the bridge and then manipulating Alzheimer’s sufferer Ashley Thomas into remembering what he saw differently.

But alas, despite Laurel’s best efforts, Emma has managed to turn everyone against the widow by framing her for drinking again. Although a row between the pair was overheard by Ross, so Emma might not be doing as well as she hopes at covering her tracks.

And the net begins closing in even further next week as Finn decides it’s time to clear out Wylie’s Farm. Emma is obviously aware there’s evidence there that could make things very difficult for her, so tries to talk him out of it, but when he insists, she’s forced to try and collect up the incriminating item before Finn sees it.

But he catches her pocketing a note and wonders what she’s up to, so when they’re back home later he goes searching for it.

“Emma being at Wylie’s Farm and acting so on edge plants a tiny seed of doubt in Finn’s head,” Joe Gill, who plays the youngest Barton brother, revealed to Inside Soap.

“After he finds the note, it’s going to keep viewers on the edge of their seats! There are a million things spinning around in his head as to what it could mean.”

The note is the one on which James scrawled “I do not” when Emma was holding him hostage and trying to make him marry her again.

Finn wants answers as to what it means and why Emma was so desperate to hide it, so he confronts his mum.

But despite the fact Emma spins another yarn and tries to cover her back, she starts to come even further unstuck when talk turns to her wedding dress.

When she makes the fateful mistake of telling Finn she doesn’t have her dress any longer, Finn can’t believe it as she tells him she destroyed it after learning of James and Moira’s relationship.

“It’s a step too far for Finn,” Joe explained. “There have been scenes in the past where Emma and Finn talked about her wedding dress and the history of it. Finn believes it’s the one thing his mum would want to keep no matter what.

“To him, her explanation is unbelievable.”

Alarm bells are ringing for Finn as he tries to dig even further and the pressure starts to get to Emma. She begins to trip up and eventually makes the shocking revelation that she was on the bridge that night.

“All I’ll say is Finn’s world is shaken,” Joe said

This has to be the beginning of the end for Emma, there’s only so many lies she can tell before she ties herself up in knots.

She’s clearly starting to unravel – and the fallout is set to be huge.
