Emmerdale SPOILER: terrifying injury for one villager on bonfire night

A dodgy firework sets off a disastrous chain of events

He’s brought nothing but trouble to Emmerdale since he arrived, and this bonfire night is no exception when Gerry Roberts’ dodgy fireworks lead to serious danger for Doug Potts.

Diane Sugden isn’t happy when Gerry’s put in charge of the village fireworks display.

Fresh out of prison and always up to no good, we’re not sure young Gerry would be our first choice, either. And poor Diane is proved right when bonfire night soon turns into a living nightmare.

As Doug goes to light one of Gerry’s dodgy (and let’s face it, probably stolen!) fireworks, tragedy and disaster strike when he’s left dangerously injured. But are we talking minor burns or something more serious?

Unfortunately for Gerry, the police soon launch an investigation into what exactly happened – will he end up back inside for causing Doug’s injuries? And will Doug be okay?

This isn’t the first time Gerry has rubbed the villagers up the wrong way.

After being released from Skipdale Young Offenders Institute where he shared a cell with Lachlan White, he’d only been in The Dales for five minutes before he was encouraging his friend to sleep with a prostitute.

Despite Lachlan not going through with the set up, the whole call girl fiasco landed him in trouble when nemesis Robert Sugden overheard him fighting with Gerry about it.

With Belle Dingle in the dark abut her boyfriend’s predicament, Robert now has the perfect ammunition to ruin the pair’s budding romance.

As well as quickly becoming a thorn in Lachlan’s side, Gerry’s also currently in trouble with Aaron Dingle for drinking alcohol with underage Liv. Now he’s definitely someone you don’t want to find yourself on the wrong side of.

Gerry has recently been part of another highly-praised storyline with Liv Flaherty. Liv recently hinted that she might be asexual after confessing to friend Belle that she wasn’t attracted to anyone.

Liv’s confession came after drunkenly trying to kiss Gerry following pressure from Gabby Thomas.

We first met Gerry back in January when he was part of a plan to make cellmate Lachlan’s mum feel guilty about her son being locked up.

While awaiting trial for the attempted murder of his grandfather, Lawrence White, Lachlan decided to take revenge on his mum by getting Gerry to beat him up just before visiting hours – all to make Chrissie feel bad. And it worked.

Fast forward to June when Gerry arrived on Chrissie’s doorstep asking for somewhere to stay, she caved when he told her a sob story about his family being in prison. Before she knew what was happening, Gerry was the newest resident of Home Farm.

Watch Gerry’s dangerous bonfire night stunt on Friday 3rd November, ITV.
