Emmerdale SPOILER: Ross Barton for tragic drug addiction storyline as acid attack takes its toll

He's been through so much already.

Ross Barton will be plunged into a horrific drug addiction storyline in Emmerdale.

The mechanic (Michael Parr) has been struggling since he was the victim of an acid attack in the soap.

But now he is clinging to pain killers as a crutch to get through his recovery.

Viewers watched last week as he desperately grabbed for pills when the hospital told him he had hit his limit for pain relief as he recovered from sepsis.

But in coming weeks his addiction is going to grow.

A tense Ross will be left without any pain relief and become desperate to find more.

Luckily he will spot some in amongst Rebecca White’s belongings and seize them.

But when he’s told that his sepsis has gone he’s temporarily relieved until he realises he will be left without pain killers.

Insisting he needs more, Ross will convince Dr Cavanagh to prescribe another week’s worth of them to keep him going.

But they last him less than a few days.

When his brother Pete’s girlfriend Rhona Goskirk, herself a recovering addict, finds his empty pill packet, she checks the date on his prescription and becomes concerned.

Questioning Ross, Rhona tries to get to the bottom of his problem, throwing Ross for a loop.

Angrily, he demands she leaves the house and she does.

But when he realises she’s taken all of his painkillers, what will he do?
