Emmerdale’s Joe Tate and Robert Sugden set for intense rivalry

Clash of the titans

Emmerdale fans have been calling for a showdown between handsome businessmen Joe Tate and Robert Sugden – and it looks like their wishes could be about to come true.

There was a brilliant reaction from viewers when the pair came face-to-face last week, particularly when Joe called Robert ‘Richard’ – and things are going to get even more tense next week.

The pair will become sworn enemies when smoke from the scrapyard causes Joe to lose a new client.

He’s talking to the potential buyer when smoke drifts over, putting the punter off.

Not a man to be crossed, a furious Joe heads over to the yard to have it out with Robert and Aaron.

He tells the newly reunited couple that the matter is far from over and then recruits new stooge Jimmy King to help him dig up some dirt on Robert.

But with MANY skeletons rattling around in Rob’s cupboard, what exactly will Jimmy come back with?

And what will Joe do when he’s got that information to hand?

More importantly, has Joe underestimated Robert – he’s not an enemy to be taken lightly despite all his protestations of being a changed man.

Has Joe bitten off more than he can chew this time?

Fans took to Twitter last week to praise the scenes between the two Emmerdale powerhouses, with many aligning themselves with either Team Robert or Team Joe.

“I can already tell I’m gonna enjoy Joe and Robert scenes,” gushed one fan, while another added: “Oh I so want Robert to take Joe Tate down a peg or two.”

Another said: “KING JOE CALLING ROBERT RICHARD!”

While a fourth commented: “Team Robert sorry Joe you are no rival.”

It really looks like it could be a major clash of the titans, but don’t forget that Joe has a secret weapon on his side in the formidable and mysterious Graham Foster.

While Joe might have bitten off more than he can chew with Robert, we suspect he’ll be no match for the G Man!
