Emmerdale fans blast soap for ruining heartbreaking episode

Fans were full of praise until the closing scenes

Emmerdale viewers have been left heartbroken by the latest episode – and also fuming after they felt the moving scenes were ruined by the ending.

The first episode of tonight’s 90 minute outing was full of tears and emotion as the villagers prepared to say farewell to Finn.

But when the police turned up to announce they were launching a murder investigation into Emma’s death just as Finn’s coffin was being taken into the church, fans were outraged at the insensitive timing.

The soap was at first praised for its emotional scenes, with Pete unable to bear going to the funeral and Ross persuading him to get his act together – without actually resorting to fisticuffs this time.

Elsewhere, Tracy and Victoria were paying their final respects to Finn, with Tracy’s scenes particularly moving.

But it was when Eric Pollard arrived and spent his last moments alone with Finn that viewers really started to well up.

Meanwhile, the autopsy on Emma was taking place and the police discovered she’d been slapped hard right before the accident and told the police officer they couldn’t rule out Emma being pushed.

So the cops decided to launch a murder investigation and arrived, sirens blaring to announce their plans.

“Apologies for the timing,” the investigating officer explained to Ross and Pete. We should think so.

Viewers were seriously unimpressed and blasted the soap for ruining an otherwise emotional episode.
