Josh and Lauren’s rocky road to love on EastEnders ends with exits

We really hope so

Josh Hemmings and Lauren Branning haven’t had the smoothest path to true love in EastEnders.

Since meeting – and very obviously being attracted to each other last year – they’ve faced Lauren’s psycho boyfriend Steven Beale’s jealousy and Lauren’s psycho sister Abi’s jealousy.

Then there was that whole issue of Josh working for the company that planned to bring Albert Square to its knees.

And Josh’s horrible ex-girlfriend who tried to drive a wedge between them.

But they eventually managed to overcome all the obstacles that were thrown in their way and begin a relationship.

They even decided to get away from Walford (good plan) and move to Glasgow with baby Louie to start a new life.

Ahhh.

Only then it was announced that Jacqueline Jossa who plays Lauren would be written out of the BBC One soap.

Fans were left stunned, which quickly turned to horror when Lauren fell from the roof of The Vic on Christmas Day.

It looked like Lauren wouldn’t make it to Glasgow after all – in fact it looked like she wouldn’t even make it out of the Square.

Miraculously though Lauren survived the fall that left Abi brain-stem dead (and killed their brother Bradley seven years previously) and the speculation started about how Lauren would leave.

Jacqueline announced she’d filmed her final scenes in January and Lauren would be waving goodbye to Walford this month.

Now Eddie Eyre, who plays Josh, has also announced that he’s left the soap.

He took to Twitter to say: “Last day on set with Enders. It’s been a pleasure.”

Fans flooded Eddie with supportive messages, wishing him luck for the future and sadness that Josh was leaving.

But what we all want to know is IS HE LEAVING WITH LAUREN?

Surely one of the Branning sisters deserves a happy ending?
