EastEnders hints Vincent Hubbard might still be alive

Richard Blackwood to return?

| Updated:

EastEnders viewers were gutted when fan favourite Vincent Hubbard got killed off earlier this year.

Or did he?

In last night’s episode, writers gave the biggest clue yet that the smooth-talking wheeler-dealer might still be alive after all…

Understandably, those watching at home went wild over the news and even speculated that he might return one day!

A few months ago, Vincent ‘disappeared’ from Albert Square after turning informant on gangster Aidan Maguire.

While viewers didn’t see him die on screen, most assumed he’d been murdered by corrupt policeman DCI Alsworth (Nik Drake).

In last night’s episodes (12 June), Phil Mitchell gave hope to Vince fans when he told Denise that he’s alive and well – and not dead after all!

It’s been an emotional time for Vincent’s wife Kim, who recently found out she’s pregnant.

Just days later, she reported her husband’s disappearance to the police and was asked to identity a dead body the police believed to be his.

Luckily, though, it wasn’t.

Taking pity on Kim, or trying to take the heat away from his own involvement, Phil eventually revealed that Vince (Richard Blackwood) is living in hiding under a false identity.

Admitting Vince had dangerous enemies, Phil told Denise to encourage Kim to back off.

But is he telling the truth at last?

Fans hope so, with one writing: “Vincent isn’t dead. Im calling it now. I reckon they’ve just written him out temporarily for this storyline.”

Another said: “I wish #EastEnders would show a glimpse of Vincent so we know he’s alive.”

In fact, in an online poll, 64% of those who took part believed Vincent will return to Walford one day.

Some likened Vincent’s disappearance to Fatboy’s, with one typing: “The truth is beginning to unravel about the disappearance of Vincent but we need the truth to come out about Fatboy now.”

After leaving the show, Richard hinted that the door had been left open for his return…

Appearing on This Morning, he said: “If they asked me to go back in the future. Of course I would.

“What I know is the fact that it was left on the duff duff.

“The door has been left open. It’s ajar! We don’t know if he was killed.”
