EastEnders viewers disgusted by the latest lie in Steven’s fake cancer plot

Max is now in on it and wants to make it worse

| Updated:

EastEnders fans are losing patience with Steven Beale and his lie that he’s got a brain tumour.

It looks like it’s only got three months maximum to run though after Max Branning stepped in and told the shocking lie that Steven only has that long left to live.

Steven’s fiance Lauren Branning has no idea her other half is lying to her after he blurted out that he has the disease to stop her leaving him and going to New Zealand.

She’s determined to stand by him (because why would you think for even a second he’d be lying about something like this?), and this week insisted they go to a clinic at the hospital to get some answers.

Although Steven has shown her a brain scan (which actually belonged to a dog), Lauren still wants more info so she can understand exactly what she’s dealing with.

The worried wife-to-be has no idea her sister, Abi, is in on the whole plot, as Abs believes she’s going to get Steven for herself at the end of it all.

Adding to her sibling’s betrayal, Lauren’s dad, Max, is now also complicit.

He’d actually worked out ages ago that Steven was lying, but it was only in Tuesday night’s episode that he confronted him about it.

When colluding Abi called her sister away from Steven’s side in the hospital waiting room, Lauren felt bad leaving her sickly fiance on his own so she called her dad to go and sit with Steven.

Squirming Steven couldn’t believe it when Max started to make a fuss about how long they were waiting, and eventually the deceitful Beale had to confess when Max confronted him.

Max played the dutiful father, insisting Steven came clean to Lauren, and the pair headed home to break the news to her.

But just as Steven was about to reveal all, Max stepped in and said:

“He’s got three months to live.” What?

Why on earth has Max joined in on this lie? And just how are they going to keep it up?

Fans, already horrified that things had got this far, were even more sickened at the latest lie and expressed their disgust on Twitter.

Just how much longer this goes on for depends on incoming producer John Yorke.

Let’s hope he rips up the scripts and puts an end to this disgusting deceit before it escalates even further.
