EastEnders stars spill the beans on explosive Christmas

It sounds like a cracker to us!

Christmas would not be Christmas without an EastEnders special keeping us on the edge of our seats over the festive period.

And at last night’s Inside Soap Awards, some of the stars of the show couldn’t contain their excitement about what was to come.

Bonnie Langford, told Metro that the upcoming shows would be “exciting and dark” and “that the energy was edge of your seats, seat of your pants.”

Adding that there were “lots of iconic storylines to come and it’s getting quite gritty and dark.”

Oooh we can’t wait!

Bonnie also threw in that her character Carmel will be dealing with a lot, after discovering that Max has been playing her.

“It’s so sad, Carmel sees the best in everyone, and she sees the best in Max. There’s a tiny little bit that’s good about Max. And she’s trying not to be a fool but Max is very cunning and I’ve got a feeling it won’t end well.”

She went on: “I’m hoping that Carmel rises from the ashes and that she does it in a very clear and calculated way.”

“The one thing I’m really pleased about is her not looking like some desperate sad older woman because I think that’s just so demeaning and rude to people who fall in love at any age.”

“She will probably have to rebuild her life again, but she’s a very strong woman and I think she will find comfort from her boys and the community that she’s in.”

Bonnie also revealed what it was like working with Patrick Bergin, better known for his role as the controlling husband in Sleeping With The Enemy with Julia Roberts, and who is joining the soap at Christmas.

She said that lots of the cast went “a bit giddy” with excitement when they met him, adding. “I did some scenes with Patrick the other day and he’s absolutely gorgeous, He’s got the Irish charm.”

Jasmine Armfield, who plays Bex Fowler in the soap, also revealed that Christmas in Albert Square is going to be a big one.

She told OK Online: “So much is happening for Christmas. They’ve sworn us to secrecy, what can I say?”

“It’s really exciting, it’s a massive Christmas!”

And with rumours of Max Branning’s revenge on Ian Beale and the Willmot-Browns trying to take over the Square, it looks like we’ve got plenty to keep us guessing as we recover from Christmas dinner this year.
