A spokesperson for the BBC soap confirmed his exit in a statement saying: “We can confirm that Richard will be leaving EastEnders this spring.

“Richard has been a great addition to the show and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Richard himself told The Mirror: “I have loved every minute of my time at EastEnders and although I will be sad to say goodbye, after three years it feels the right time to leave.

“I have been truly blessed with some great storylines since the moment I joined but when I was presented with my last story I knew it was time for Vincent to depart Walford.”

He added that he is looking forward to the future, with some presenting gigs and theatre roles lined up.

It’s the second big departure for the show this week.

Yesterday it was confirmed that Jenna Russell who plays Michelle Fowler would be bowing out after just 14 months in the role.

Jenna was forced to slam reports that she’d been axed, taking to Twitter to say: “Just for clarity, I wasn’t “axed” just fancied doing something else. Nothing else.”

Richard’s character Vincent is married to Kim Hubbard-Fox and the pair have a young daughter, called Pearl.

He’s been involved in some high profile storylines since being brought in by Dominic Treadwell-Collins including being unmasked as a police informant.

It’s not yet known how Vincent will leave Walford.
