Walford is left shaken next week when a savage knife attack leaves Shakil Kazemi dead and Keegan Taylor fighting for his life.
The schoolboys are attacked when Keegan makes the fateful decision to steal a bike belonging to a local gang.
Shakil tells him that the gang have posted a photo of him taking it on social media and he really needs to return it, but Keegan refuses.
As the rest of the residents celebrate the Royal Wedding, Keegan and Shakil are both brutally knifed.
It’s pub landlord Mick Carter who finds bleeding Keegan in the ally as he goes to lock up after the day’s festivities.
He’s horrified to find the seriously injured teen and immediately calls an ambulance.
As they wait, Keegan tries to tell Mick that Shakil has been stabbed too, but Mick isn’t able to understand him and focuses on getting him help instead.
As Keegan takes a turn for the worse, Mick makes the decision to take Keegan to hospital himself and tells the ambulance to look out for him en-route.
But when disaster strikes, is it just Keegan’s life that’s hanging in the balance?
The next day, the events of the night before reach the Square, leaving everyone shaken.
The news that Shakil is missing spreads and the residents help the police help to look for him.
Later Masood is told by Ian that Shakil is missing.
Masood has a heart-wrenching realisation.
It was announced earlier this year that EastEnders would be tackling the issue of knife crime with the help of the soap’s former actress Brooke Kinsella who lost her brother Ben ten years ago.
Since losing Ben, Brooke has tirelessly campaigned for harsher rules to bring knife crime under control in the UK.
