EastEnders has NOT been nominated for a BAFTA this year – and fans are taking it as a big snub.
That’s got to hurt more than one of Kat Slater’s slaps!
This morning (Wednesday 4 April), the full list of nominees was announced and there was a collective ‘Where’s EastEnders?” from a large portion of the soap’s 2.56million Twitter followers.

The BBC soap was nowhere to be seen, while Casualty seemed to replace it in the Soap & Continuing Drama category.

Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks also made the cut.
It’s not the first time a major soap has failed to be nominated… Just last year, Corrie was left off the list, leaving Emmerdale to win the Best Soap award.

Former EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth, who played iconic character Little Mo, took to Twitter to express her surprise at the apparent snub.
She said: “No EastEnders on the BAFTA TV noms that’s a first! In the past few months EE has gone back to its roots, truly great characters, writers and actors and it shows. The only prog on TV depicting working class people not solely as benefit cheats and layabouts.”

Another EastEnders fan expressed their surprise with the message: “tbh i don’t see why eastenders isn’t up for a bafta but casualty is, they definitely deserve more of a chance.”
Elsewhere, The Crown, Black Mirror, Line of Duty, and Three Girls all received three nominations each.

While Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, The Handmaid’s Tale, The End of the F***ing World, Peaky Blinders, and Graham Norton for The Graham Norton Show were also given the prestigious nod.
Sue Perkins will host the ceremony from London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 13 May. It will air on BBC.
