Jaws dropped last night when Alfie Moon made a shock return to EastEnders.
Fans of the BBC soap were genuinely surprised to see the character back in scenes shown on Thursday (24 May).
Unlike when Kat Slater returned earlier this year with so much fanfare, nobody knew likeable rogue Alfie was due to make a comeback.
In a shocking twist, pregnant Hayley Slater knocked at the door of a hotel room to meet a ‘mystery man’ – only for viewers to discover the man in question was Alfie!

Soap watchers know that the estranged husband of Kat (played by Shane Richie) was thought to be living in Spain with their children – although nobody yet knows why the couple aren’t together.
When Kat returned to Walford alone earlier this year, she claimed that Alfie had taken their children abroad to run a bar. But there were suspicions almost immediately that she wasn’t telling the whole truth.

And it seems now he has been working together with Kat’s cousin Hayley.
Alfie and Kat were last on screen together in EastEnders spin-off Redwater, set in a fictional Irish village.
It ended with Kat seemingly drowning and Alfie being resuscitated, prompting viewers to speculate if their characters had been killed off.

Now we know both have survived – but are hiding a big secret.
But, is Alfie the father of Hayley’s baby as many fans suspect?

One fan squealed: “Omg Alfie is Hayley’s secret man.”
Another wrote: “Oh Alfie moon, you dirty dog.”
A conspiracy theorist said: “Right.. WOW!! WOOOOOW!! We all suspected he’d be back but OH MY GOD.. Not like this! WHAT A TWIST!! So does that mean Alfie is the dad of Hayley’s baby?! AND THAT’S why Kat doesn’t like her that much?”
Alfie will be back on screen tonight (Friday 25 May) where viewers will hopefully get some answers…
