Kat Slater’s neglectful parenting is the reason she returned to Walford in EastEnders.
Fans were left horrified when the shocking truth was revealed by Alfie Moon and Kat’s cousin Hayley in last night’s episode.
Viewers watched sickened as it was revealed how Kat had been too busy romping with her lover to pay attention to her three sons.
While she was busy, her eldest son Tommy boiled a kettle and accidentally pulled it onto his younger brother Ernie.
The poor toddler was left fighting for his life and has undergone three skin grafts.

“Neglect you said, unfit to be a mother,” Alfie was told by Hayley as it was also confirmed that he is the father of Hayley’s unborn baby.
She added: “You chucked her out onto the streets and threatened to take her to court and never let her see the boys again unless she left the country.”
Ernie’s injuries were so bad that Alfie apparently attacked his wife and forced her to leave the country.
Hayley said: “I thought you were going to kill her, so did she.”
Alfie admitted: “I hated her, I hated her more than I’ve ever hated anyone and she had to leave for everyone’s sake.
“But I didn’t know she was going to stay away for good.”
And just as it seemed Alfie was going to come around and speak to Kat himself, Hayley pretended that Kat had shared her guilt over the accident.
In a fury, Alfie decided against seeing Kat and left to return to Spain, ignoring his estranged wife’s phone calls.
Fans were horrified at what had gone on and took to Twitter.
Oh and Alfie is abit horrible now. I have lost count of the amount of times he has been verbally and physically abusive to Kat. She never lied about who she is but he does. Shame on his character development #EastEnders.
